Federal Invention Reporting Requirements (Code of Federal Regulations, 37 401.14)
- A significant proportion of sponsored research at the University of Oregon is conducted on behalf of the U.S. Government. Most of these federal awards are grants, which are handled under 2 CFR 215 (the federal regulations governing terms of the award), although agencies may change certain terms and may in rare instances operate under different terms.
- If an award is actually a federal contract, Sponsored Projects Services (formerly ORSA) should be contacted prior to signing off to ensure that innovations and research artifacts (including data) will be administered correctly. The terms in federal contracts are often substantially different than those in grants.
